Dr Brian Davis is a Research Fellow & Adjunct Lecturer at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, NUI Galway. He is leader of the Knowledge Discovery Unit (KDU). He is currently coordinator and PI of Horizon 2020 ICT Programme Project SSIX: Social Sentiment analysis financial IndeXes, ICT-2014-15.a Big OpenData, Grant agreement no: 645425 for Innovation action (2015-2018). He has over 5 years of industry RTD project management and collaboration and is currently project leader and co-PI of an industry co-funded project with Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), involving Elsevier Labs, which has been critical to secure matching funding for the core INSIGHT@NUI Galway research platform. He worked as project manager and language engineer within the architecture and knowledge management work packages of the highly successful FP6-IP NEPOMUK and contributed to the recent Monnet consortium. His doctoral research has been published and widely cited within the Controlled Natural Language (CNL) and Semantic Web communities and recently joined the Organising Committee of CNL 2016. Dr. Davis has been an Organising Committee member of the Semantic Web and Information Extraction workshop (SWAIE) series in 2012, 2013 hosted at COLING 2014. He has acted as reviewer for and programme committee member for several workshops, conferences, journals in the field of semantic web and natural language processing over the years i.e. ESWC, ISWC, LREC and CNL, JNLE, JODS, WWW, IJCIS, JLRE, JWS, Data Science.
